How to scan and edit a MS office word document - Optical Character Recognition program ( OCR )
Confirm that your computer and your scanner are working properly.
The Optical Character Recognition program ( OCR ) which translates images to text. Most computer scanners come with some sort of OCR. Install the latest driver for your scanner so that your scanner support OCR Optical Character Recognition.
Step 1
Open that image and go to "File>Save As" and name it (filename).tiff in the "TIFF" format.
Step 2
Go to "Start->Programs->Microsoft Office Tools->Microsoft Office Document Imaging"
Step 3
Go to "File->Open" and open your scanned document that has been saved in the *.TIFF format.
Step 4
Go to "Tools->Send Text to Word." You will get a prompt stating this process will take time, Click OK. Depending on your computer's speed, this will take anywhere from a few moments to a minute or two.
Step 5
When the process is done Microsoft Word will start itself and your document will be present and able to be edited and managed as you please.
If you are not able to run the OCR again just Run the Recognize the text using OCR (Tools -> Recognize the text using OCR).
It will ask "OCR has already run on the document. Perform OCR again?" Select yes and perform the action and Follow the step 4 and step 5.
